BATTLE OF LUND 1676
DANISH ARMY - FYNSKE REGIMENT

Immagine
The Fynske Regiment partecipated at the Battle of Lund on 4th December 1676 in the second line of the Dannish array with 1 Battalion.
In the Danish Army every Battalion was based on 4 companies. The total amount of men for a battalion in that battle was around 300/320 men for the Danish. As it is possible to see in the photo here above every Company possessed 1 colour. In this case 3 green ones with the Provincial symbol + 1 white as Colonel Flag. In the foreground a NCO
In the center of the battalion was placed the pikemen formation. Usually the ratio was 2/3 musketeers and 1/3 pikemen but the tendence was to decrease the number pf pikemen. On the back of the pikemen it is also possible to see 16 grenadiers. the Danish added 16 grenadiers per battalion just in 1676 for the campaign of Scanen. Their uniforms were grey, with (probably) green cuffs. (Other surces are for red, but it seems to me quite weird). They wore a special cap and had a bag with grnades inside.

Photo above.
The same Battalion is heading towards the battle. It is possible to see the 4 companies  forming the battalion. Thanks to the fact that I chose stand with 4 papersoldiers per stand for musketeers and 3 papersoldiers per stand for pikemen, it is possible to split the unit in 4 exactly as it was in the reality, and this again thanks to the fact that the ratio is 1:1.

In the foreground there is the regimental artillery. Every battalion had actually 2 cannons 3pdr. This gun was attended by 1 artilleryman (visible just behind the cannon) 4 privates (where I added also a NCO) and 4 sappers (8 sappers in total in the battalion).
This cannon was particullary effective and caused a lot of losses between the Swedish lines. I thought it is very important in recreating the Lund Battle to pay attention to this particular. Often the wargamers avoid to recreate this guns, losing totally the reality of the simulation.

In this photo is also possible to see the musician of the Rynske Battalion. Every battalion hd 12 drummers and 4 fifers. They didn't use rhe "reverse colours" system and so their uniforms were similar to those of the unit just with more embroidery as here.
They are on the back of the unit to support it with music and also to give orders. For this reason the Commander of the Battalion is just next to them

In this photo I wanted to show the placement of the regimental artillery on the side of the battalion. In evidence the sappers with their typical comfortable cap.

Immagine
The Colonel of the Battalion is in red uniform, as it wa very common in the Danish army, with the cuirass underneath the coat and so not visible. The cuff are green as main colour of the unit he commands.

The figures are almost 25 mm tall!
In this way it is possible to have details (like a normal 25 mm figure) but a huge number too (as in the 6 mm).
