I tamburi hanno i colori invertiti come usuale all'epoca.

(Please read before the text by clicking the button "Blenheim 1:5") The Rowe's Brigade was forming the left wing of the Allied array (commanded by Lt General Cutt) and together with other 3 infantry Brigades (for a total of 20 battallions) supported by 14 squadrons of cavalry. The Rowe's Brigade was based upon 5 battalions (each representing a regiment): Scots Fusiliers, Welch Fusiliers, Lord North & Grey's Regiment of Foot, Howe's Regiment of Foot and Marlborough's Regiment of Foot.
I decided to start with this Brigade, because it sustained the first and tough schock against the village of Blenheim.

I started with the Scots Fusiliers commanded by Lt.Colonel Commanding John
Dalyell. This Regiment was raised in 1678 and in 1751 renamed the 21st Foot "Royal Scots Fusiliers".
Their 1704 campaign establishment was 629 men.  So "my" battallion is done on 115 (paper) soldiers, 2 standards, 2 drummers, 4 NCO's and 3 Officer, for a total of 126 figures.
I painted their cap with mitres (the low one, not that of the Foot Guards). The colours are: Scotland and that of the Regiment itself, as I found on Wikipedia.
The Officers wear an orange scarf in honour of William of Orange. The drummers have inverted colours as it was usual at the epoch.

The second Regiment I did is the Lord North and Grey's Regiment of Foot, with an establishment 0f 632 men.
I recreate it with a force of 2 Officers, 4 NCO's, 2 Standards, 2 Drummers and 116 (paper) soldiers of whom 15 are Grenadiers.
I made a little change in the flag in comparition to that published in the sites I quoted above. The St. George flag is still in white, because it seemed to me quite weird that it was all in red. I did conserve on it the shining sun. (see photos). The drummers have the reverse colours of the facings. The stand is 3 cm deep and 22 cm wide.

As third Regiment I reproduced the Welsh Fusiliers Regiment, that had about 750 men, i.e. 150 papersoldiers. This huge number forced me to increase the width of the battallion from an usual 22 cm wide to a 27 cm wide. This increase reproduces exactly as it was in the realty with battallions wider then others and with a different impact on the field, due to theirs different numbers of men.

In short, the Rowe's Brigade had 3.222 men, that I reproduced through 645 (!!) papersoldiers. The visual effect is really good.

So now it's time to start the Wilkes' Brigade (Hesse-Kassel)!
