WARGAMING: HOW TO CALCULATE THE LOSSES

Immagine
I would like to describe here how to calculate the losses, WITHOUT USING A DIE (!), thanks to the huge number of papersoldiers
As said, it is possible to avois the use of the die, using just a percentage system: a fighting unit from those time at 40 m distance shot down as average 4,5% of the enemy in front of them.
This means that for exemple the right part of this battalion that is based on 96 papersoldiers, whose 2 colours, 2 Leutenants 7 NCOs has a "volley capacity" of 85 muskets. They produce then 3.8 losses to the enemy unit in 1 turn (4 minutes)

Immagine
This percentage is calculate on a turn of 4 minutes, necessary to make shooting the entire unit at least once.
This loss of 3,8 enemy produces that the player is allowed to eliminate from the opposing unit that has been shot 3 figures.
The remaing 0,8 can be used in two different way:
a) you keep this 0,8, waiting that the enemy units is shot again and that you will add that percentage to the new one (0,8 + 0,4 = 1,2 = another unit to be eliminated and to keep a further 0,2)
b) you round up to the superior number from ....,5 and to the inferior number if less than ....,5 (so 3,8 will give 4 losses and 3,2 just 3 losses)

Immagine
But this is not all! If you consider that the unit above described with 85 muskets firing could have suffered - let' say - 8 losses in that turn while it was causing 4 losses to the enemy, in the next turn it will shoot with 77 muskets, giving a percentege of just 3,4% i.e. just 3 enemy units possilbe to eliminate.

Immagine
The percentage of 4,5% can be influenced by a lot of factors that totally changes this number: tireness by fighting and by turn, presence of characters (NCO, colours, officers) kind of the unit (Elite, experienced, normal, milita) etc. giving a very huge range of possibilities (more than with a simple and useless die)
